Lake Helen MacKenzie winter camping
22 January, 2017
My first ODC trip of the year was some winter camping near Mt. Washington just on the shores of Lake Helen MacKenzie (do you say shores if you can't actually see them?).
It was a really luxury trip - super fun. There were 14 of us and we snow shoed in which took just about an hour. Then we spend the day digging our tents into the snow (it was quite windy), building wind-shielding walls, digging out a kitchen, and finally building a massive castle out of ice blocks. It can all be seen in the photos! When we woke up the next day after white a blustery night, we ate breakfast then had a few snowball fights/capture-the-shovel rounds before hiking back out. It was a really nice chance to get our of the city for a bit!
