Cerro San Cristobal
12 July, 2015
After yesterday the next hit for me was Cerro San Cristobal, the second highest point in Santiago. It hosts a 22 m tall virgin Mary statue at the peak inside of which is a small chapel where Pope John Paul II prayed and blessed Santiago in the 80s. It's a nice little wander up with some killer views of the Andes over Santiago along the way. The view was made much better by the recent rain which pushes down the smog. Unfortunately as I neared the virgin another storm blew in which covered some of the city and blocked the mountains. A neat feature of the hill is the now derelict cable car service. Photos below!
